The Government of Belize through the Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation and Culture (MTCAC) has received financing from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), toward the cost of the Belize Sustainable Tourism Program and intends to apply part of the proceeds of this loan to payments under the Contract for Cayo Welcome Center and Town Center Rehabilitation #CCS008.

The construction of the Cayo Welcome Center and Town Center Rehabilitation in San Ignacio Town, Belize encompasses approximately 2.55 acres of public land including current developments of Coronation Park, the San Ignacio Cultural Center, The Norberta Pulido commercial center building, and being bounded by the stadium/football field, Savannah Road and private parcels surrounding the park. Infrastructural works will extend to include a maximum of 800 feet of Burns Avenue.

Scope of works will include:

• Excavation in trench and laying of R.C. storm-water drainage pipes
• Construction of R.C. drainage chambers and culverts
• Pavement construction in asphalt, cast concrete and concrete pavers
• Construction of buildings in concrete, masonry block-work and timber
• Installation of building services and required service equipment
• Earthworks and Landscaping

Bids must meet the minimum requirements as stated in the Bid Data Sheet which include:

1. Bid Security of BZ$20, 000 (ITB 17.2)
2. Credit facility of BZ$ 400, 000 of which at least 50% should be from a banking facility (ITB 5.5 e)
3. Average annual billing of construction work over 5 years with a multiple of 1 ½ (ITB 5.5 a)
4. Experience of one similar project in nature and complexity over the period of 5 years (ITB 5.5 b)
5. Contract Manager with five years experience in works of an equivalent nature and volume, including no less than 3 years as manager.

Awarded Bidder:

On the basis that the JVC firm represented by RJB Construction presented the lowest evaluated cost, the bid received was responsive to the ToR and that the JVC met all qualifying criteria, the STP team has selected RJB Construction as the winning firm for the Construction of the Cayo Welcome Center and San Ignacio Rehabilitation project.
